It quickly acquired worlc wide fame, and its triumphal march since then is unmatched. Os Barnack, the inventor of the Leica, was an enthusiastic photo- grapher himself. For a long time he used a 13 by 18 cm view camera, but recalled: “I had to lug much equipment during my Sunday hikes in the Thuringian forests.
